Tuan Nguyen - Associate Advisory Board


Since 1990, as an Industrial Hygiene Consultant, Tuan specializes in providing consultation services, training supports and implementation of hazard controls for California businesses in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.

He provides insurance-related loss prevention works, management consultation and technical assistance to businesses regarding workplace safety issues and compliance requirements to both state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as well as other environmental health regulations and guidelines.

His consulting work includes providing exposure characterizations, hazardous materials information services, engineering control measures, ergonomic surveys, risk assessment, management and employee training programs for hazard communication, protective equipment, hazardous waste, confined space entry, respiratory protection, noise, health care hazards, blood borne pathogens and pesticide hazards. He has assisted workers compensation claims adjusters, attorneys, physicians with research and monitoring data, and provided loss prevention services for insured clients and brokers. Tuan has provided consultation services to a wide variety of industries such as: mining, metals smelting and fabrication, construction, metal finishing, electronic manufacturing, foundry, food processing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, concrete products manufacturing, farming, printing, sewage and wastewater treatment plants and many others.

Prior to 1990, Tuan had spent over six years working as a Research Associate at University of California Irvine Medical School, in the Air Pollution Health Effects Laboratory, coordinating and conducting research in inhalation toxicology for air pollution studies.

As one of the co-founders, Tuan currently serves as a Vice President of Operations for US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce West Coast. USPAACC – West Coast is an affiliate of USPAACC (headquartered in Washington, D.C.), a national non-profit and non-political organization founded in 1984 to promote, nurture and develop economic growth in the Asian American business and professional community. Tuan is a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of May Society – an Asian American Political Action Committee from 2001 to present and while he was in college, he co-founded and was a president of Asians and Friends Club of Cypress Community College from 1979 to 1980.

Some of the community activity involvements and professional affiliations include: co-hosting the U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao’s Orange County/“Little Saigon” Visit, August 22, 2001. Co-organizing the Little Saigon Expo in November 14, 2002.

Tuan is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA),American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), American Public Health Association/ World Federation of Public Health Association and Indoor Air Quality Council.

He has received extensive training and work experience in air pollution control, environmental management for hazardous waste generators, process safety management, pesticides safety, asbestos control, bioaerosols, wastewater treatment, worker's compensation laws, environmental and occupational safety regulations, confined space entry, machine guarding, industrial toxicology, transportation of hazardous materials and hazwoper training.

Tuan is currently working toward his Associate Risk Management designation. He received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, minor in Chemistry and Arts at the University of California Irvine, California in 1983 and received additional Industrial Hygiene training at the Southern Occupational Health Center, California in 1987, and holds the Occupational Safety Certification from UCI Extension in 1989. Tuan is fluent in English and Vietnamese.
